Some show dates for 2021

Three shows are scheduled for the remainder of 2021, that you may wish to mark in your diaries – two expected to place in the UK, and one in The Netherlands.

The Wakefield Acorn & RISC OS Computer Show

The annual Wakefield Show normally takes place on the outskirts of the town that gives it its name, but last year – which would have been the 25th show – the event had to be cancelled due to the pandemic.

A show was provisionally booked for this year, with the date set as 24th April, and would therefore have been not only the 25th Wakefield Show, but twenty five years since the first – though sadly not on the 25th of the month.

That physical event has had to be cancelled, but the plan is to go ahead with the event, holding it as a virtual/online event, along the lines of the 2020 London Show. Full details are yet to be announced, so watch this space for more news.

The RISC OS eXperience

Taking place each year in The Netherlands, the RISC OS eXperience (English version) is organised by the Big Ben Club.

This year’s event – which is free to attend for both exhibitors and visitors – has been scheduled for 15th May, though the web page notes that the event will only be held if the measures in place due tot he pandemic allow it.

The RISC OS London Show

A date has also been set for this year’s RISC OS London Show, so mark 30th October – the day before Halloween – in your diaries for that.

The show website specifically mentions the St Giles Hotel and and usual entry fee of £5.00 so, unless the date has simply been slotted into a page template, it may be that the hotel has been provisionally booked for that date on the assumption it will be possible to go ahead. With the rate at which the UK’s vaccination program has been going, this is plausible date for a physical event – though I’d cautiously suggest that there’s still a possibility it will have to be virtual again this year.
